We don’t have a real answer to this question, but if your website addresses an audience in Serbia, you should consider the .RS extension, but if you don’t want to limit yourself to Serbia, it is recommended to use international domains. However, .RS or .COM will not limit you, but only give you a certain advantage according to your choice .COM is the most popular domain extension and has a huge drawback – what you want to register is hardly available because all the desired domains were leased 20 and more years ago, while the situation with national domains is significantly better. The domain affects SEO much less than it is believed, so domain extensions are more a matter of choice than the key to success.

As everywhere, there are rules, but they depend on the domain extension itself. The usual rules are that the domain cannot be smaller than 2 characters, no period or underscore can be used, only numbers and letters of the English alphabet, and the hyphen (-), which is being used less and less. There are also Cyrillic extensions, e.g. our .СРБ but they are used significantly less due to practical reasons. You cannot register certain extensions if you are not a legal entity, e.g. .CO.RS, while you cannot register .EU domains with an address in Serbia.

A domain is a prerequisite for an internet presentation, i.e. a website or the use of an email address in the format [email protected]. However, a domain is just an address on the Internet and serves only to point to a server, so the email function and website require Web Hosting, that is, space on the Internet to host your services. You need to provide us with the EPP authorization code you get from your existing provider, just contact them or send the request through your user panel. In the case of .RS/.CO.RS or .СРБ domains, the transfer is completely free and instant, so you do not need to renew the domain if it expires in more than 30 days. In all other cases, the transfer of the domain includes a one-year renewal of the domain. Certain extensions, such as .COM, do not allow transfer within the first 60 days from the day of registration, and some registries do not even allow transfer after the expiration, while in the case of .RS domains, this is also possible.

First come, first served. You already know the answer, there is not much you can do, the domain is taken because someone else registered it before you. In some cases, you can buy the domain, but be prepared to pay a figure of several thousand to several hundred thousand euros, even millions. However, our advice is to find another extension, e.g. if .COM is taken, use .RS or combine another name.

Almost all domain extensions have in common that they must be registered for a minimum of one year, and a maximum of ten years. When a domain expires, it goes into a grace period and you can renew it under the same terms. That period is usually 20 to 30 days after expiration, but after that, there is a risk that someone else will take the domain or that you have to pay penalties that amount to several hundred euros for renewal.

Certain extensions (eg .ME) are more expensive to renew than to register. We as domain resellers do not influence such things, the prices are formed primarily by the owners of those domain extensions and official distributors, primarily Verysign.

The WHOIS service is a publicly available service that checks the availability of a domain as well as its ownership and nameserver parameters (indicates where the domain is directed). If WHOIS privacy protection is not activated on the domain, information about the domain’s owner, his/hers first and last name, email, address, and city as well as technical/admin contacts is publicly available to everyone. When you lease WHOIS protection, that data is no longer available, instead, a message is displayed that the protection is activated. In the case of .RS/.CO.RS and .СРБ domains, the WHOIS display is visible only for legal entities, so individuals do not need to lease privacy protection. When it comes to international domains, it often happens that owners receive an increased number of promotional messages and spam due to the visible email address, while in the case of .RS/.CO.RS/.СРБ domains, such a thing is impossible because no email is listed anywhere – only the name of the legal entity, VAT, address, and city.

Domain cancellation depends on the domain extension and is possible within 24 hours, but with certain restrictions. Contact our technical support to check for such a possibility.

It is recommended to protect your brand or identity by covering as many extensions as possible. Of course, this requires additional costs, but you can avoid unpleasant situations in the future by doing so.

If it is about .RS/.CO.RS extensions, in that case after 30 days the domain becomes free and you can register it again if someone has not done that already. In other cases, e.g. in the case of a .COM extension, you will have to wait between 70 and 80 days for the domain to become available again, unless someone registers it before you. If the domain has been visited, registered for a long time, or has an attractive name, the chances are very high that as soon as it is available again, it will be registered by marketing agencies or agencies dealing with domain resale. Some services deal with this (domain backorder) and you will hardly be faster than them because they react instantly.
